Data Mashups Service
When you signup for the Data
Mashups service, you get the ability to create and deliver custom
mashup applications on the web. So what, you may ask. What
can I do with this?
The goal of the Data Mashups service is to allow you (i.e. the account
owner's company) to provide useful
applications to your users, which may include
- employees of your company
- your customers
- visitors to your web site
For any or all of these groups, you
can now build, or import and customize, targeted mashup applications
desgned by you to be useful to their specific needs.
Let's look at each of these groups and see what you might be able to do
for them with this service.
Company
Employees
The Data Mashups service may be used
to offer employees in your company a personalized portal and a number
of integrated applications that combine application data, web
components, web services, and other web applications.
Examples include:
- Portal combining internal and external applications, and new
mashup applications
- Dashboards combining internal inventory or other data with
salesforce.com sales data
- Procurement application integrated with Amazon web services
- Project Management integrated with SMS web services
